I thought SOF was working fine until I tried connection to our CTF server.

reinstall sof2. Your missing a file used in our map.

I don't have the SOF installation nor the cd, downloaded with no installation needed. What is the file called? Perhaps I can find it on one of my SOF cds.

You are missing the maps.pk3 file.
